Athletes push their bodies to the edge to achieve their task at hand. Because of this, they generally have a good understanding of how their bodies work. Our first Athlete Panel Call was a huge success with Dr. Anne, Evolv Master Distributor John Gustin, American mixed martial artist Tra Telligman, American mixed martial artist Guy Mezger, professional bodybuilder Dennis Newman, professional baseball player John Ford Griffin, and world renowned strength training expert Nelson Sandefeur.

Tra Telligman is an American mixed martial artist and boxer who has fought in Japan, Russia and the USA. Tra started in 1996 and he is best known for his bouts in the UFC. His most notable accomplishment was an upset win over powerful Ukrainian striker Igor Vovchanchyn at PRIDE 13. Tra took the fight on two weeks notice, replacing teammate Ken Shamrock after Shamrock suffered a neck injury in training. As described by noted writer Dave Meltzer, “Telligman’s footwork and boxing technique completely threw Vovchanchyn off, and in one of the biggest upsets in the sport’s history at the time, Telligman won a unanimous decision.” Tra’s height is 6foot 2inches his weight is 106KG he is a mixed martial artist and fought in Japan and the USA.
Guy Mezger is a retired American martial artist who competed in professional combat sports ranging from full contact karate, kickboxing, and boxing, but is most recognized as a mixed martial arts fighter (retired from competition January 25, 2005). He is associated with Lion’s Den Dallas. Guy was a champion in mixed martial arts in two different promotions, the UFC and Pancrase. He holds wins over Tito Ortiz, Masakatsu Funaki, Yuki Kondo, Semmy Schilt, and Minoru Suzuki.
Guy has trained with many great martial arts competitors and trainer/instructors; his main trainers have been Vince Tamura (Judo), Willie Thompson (Wrestling), Billy “Jack” Jackson (Kickboxing), and Ken Shamrock (Submission Fighting/Pancrase/Mixed Martial Arts). Guy has co-written one book, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Kickboxing, and had an uncredited speaking role in the first-season episode of Walker, Texas Ranger Night of the Gladiator.
On January 25, 2005, Guy Mezger retired from professional fighting after experiencing stroke-like symptoms prior to his scheduled bout with Tito Ortiz. Mezger trains students in boxing, kickboxing and the Lion’s Den Mixed Martial Arts system at his gym; “Guy Mezger’s Combat Sports Club” in Dallas, Texas.
Mezger is a part owner in a Movie/TV production company that is making “Reality TV” shows, action and documentary movies.
Mezger has been named the President of Mark Cuban’s new HDNet Fights and is responsible for developing new talent and securing promotion partners for HDnet’s Friday Night Fights. Mezger also has a consulting company, CS Consulting, that works with both Federal and State law enforcement agencies on re-vamping their defensive tactics training.
Dennis Newman is a professional bodybuilder, model and actor and has placed first in various heavyweight championships throughout his career. Newman states, “Winning Mr. USA was the result of dedication and focus on a dream. I believe that is no different than what it will take to go to the top with Evolv. John Ford Griffin is a professional baseball player and was the first drafted in 2001 to the New York Yankees. He was the Yankees’ first pick in the amateur draft and later played with the Chicago Cubs. Griffin holds a .304 batting average. At Florida State he had 458 at bats, with 18 homeruns and 68 RBIs.
Nelson Sandefeur is a world renowned strength training expert. A former power lifter and the first body builder to bench over 600 lbs. Nelson’s family started family fitness centers which is now 24 hour fitness, they also invented the lifecycle and started life fitness the largest exercise equipment company in the world.
